Nīkau forms a slender, ringed trunk topped with a graceful crown of long, dark green fronds, creating a distinctive tropical appearance while remaining well suited to native and subtropical planting schemes. It is slow growing and evergreen, with pinkish flowers produced beneath the crown followed by attractive red berries that provide food for birds. With its elegant upright form and strong architectural character, Nīkau makes an excellent specimen or feature palm for sheltered gardens and larger landscapes.

Height:
10–15m at maturity

Width:
2–3m

Position:
Part shade to full sun.
