Description:
A hardy New Zealand native shrub with glossy bronze-red foliage that deepens to rich red tones during the cooler months. Its small, thick, highly reflective leaves provide year-round colour and texture, while its naturally spreading, mounding habit makes it an excellent choice for groundcover, banks, coastal gardens and low-maintenance landscape plantings.

Position:
Prefers full sun to partial shade. The richest foliage colour develops in full sun, while plants grown in more shade may remain greener.

Soil:
Prefers a well-drained soil but is adaptable to sandy, coastal and poorer soils. Avoid consistently wet or waterlogged areas.

• Groundcover for banks, borders and slopes
• Coastal and exposed gardens
• Rock and contemporary gardens
• Mass planting for low-maintenance landscapes
• Adds year-round colour and contrast to mixed plantings

Care Tips:

• Water regularly while establishing, then during extended dry periods
• Lightly trim in spring or as required to maintain shape and encourage dense growth
• Apply mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds
• Feed in spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser
• Hardy and tolerant of wind, coastal conditions and dry periods once established
