Pseudopanax ‘Trident’
Description:
Striking native shrub or small tree, admired for its glossy green foliage shaped like a three-pronged trident. The leaves are leathery, lush, and bold in form, giving the plant a distinctive architectural look. Its upright, bushy growth makes it excellent for modern gardens, screening, or as a feature plant. Small, inconspicuous flowers appear in summer, followed by purple-black berries that attract birds.
Height:
2 – 3 m
Width:
1.5 – 2 m

Moist, fertile, well-drained soils. Tolerates light clay once established.

· Mulch around the base to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds.
· Prune lightly to shape if needed, but usually requires little maintenance.
· Protect young plants from heavy frost; mature plants tolerate light frost.
· Feed in spring with a general-purpose slow-release fertiliser for lush growth.
