Description:
Compact, evergreen shrub prized for its glossy green foliage and masses of deep crimson-red flowers that bloom from late spring through summer. The blooms are lightly scented and attract bees and butterflies, making it an excellent choice for pollinator-friendly gardens. Its dense, bushy form and vibrant colour make it a standout in mixed borders, hedges, or coastal gardens.

Care Tips:

·          Water regularly when young to establish; once mature, it’s relatively drought-tolerant

·          Apply a slow-release general-purpose fertiliser in spring to encourage strong growth and flowering

·          Lightly prune after flowering to shape and encourage denser growth. Avoid heavy pruning in late autumn or winter

·          Mulch annually to retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping mulch clear of the stems

·          Generally hardy; watch for aphids or leaf spot in humid conditions—ensure good air circulation

·          Tolerant of light frost and salt-laden winds, making it ideal for coastal Auckland gardens
