Description:
Native New Zealand deciduous or semi-deciduous tree, famous for its striking yellow flowers that bloom in spring. It has small, fern-like leaves and a graceful, open canopy. This species is slower-growing than other kowhais and often develops a naturally attractive, irregular shape. It is highly valued for its ecological and ornamental qualities, attracting native birds such as tui and bellbirds with its nectar-rich flowers.

Position:
Full sun to light shade. Prefers a sheltered spot away from harsh winds for optimal flowering.
Soil:
Well-drained soil; tolerates a range from clay to sandy soils. Prefers slightly acidic to neutral pH. Avoid waterlogged areas.

Care Tips:
· Young trees need regular watering until established. Mature trees are drought-tolerant.

· Generally hardy. Watch for possum browse, leaf miners, and scale insects.
