Description:
Hardy, evergreen perennial with long, sword-shaped green leaves that grow in dense, fan-like clumps. It produces striking white, iris-like flowers with yellow and violet markings from late spring through summer, with sporadic flowering often continuing into autumn in warmer regions of New Zealand. Each flower lasts only a day or two, but the plant blooms repeatedly over a long period. Ideal for mass planting, borders, and low-maintenance landscapes, it is highly adaptable and tolerant of a wide range of conditions once established.

Position:
Full sun to part shade. Performs best in full sun for maximum flowering. Tolerates wind, coastal conditions, and light frost once established.
Soil:
Well-drained soil. Tolerates a wide range of soil types, including sandy and clay soils, but grows best in fertile, moderately moist soil.

Care tips:
- Water regularly during establishment; once established, it is drought tolerant
- Remove spent flower stalks to keep plants tidy and encourage continued flowering
- Divide overcrowded clumps every 3–5 years in spring or autumn to maintain vigour
- Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring for healthy growth and flowering
- Generally pest- and disease-free and well suited to New Zealand conditions, including Auckland's humid climate
