Description:

A compact, bushy, evergreen shrub with small, glossy dark green leaves. Features masses of delicate, bell-shaped, apple-blossom pink flowers with white centres. Bees are attracted to its flowers.

Position:

Full sun for best flowering; tolerates some light shade. 

Soil:

Needs a free-draining soil. It can tolerate clay soils but prefers fertile, well-drained soil. 

Uses:

·         Informal flowering hedges

·         Low maintenance shrub borders

·         Background planting or specimen plant

·         Coastal areas due to its tolerance of salt and wind

·         Effective as a windbreak 

Care Tips:

·         Lightly prune in spring to maintain shape and remove dead or crossing stems

·         Apply a good mulch of well-rotted compost or manure after pruning to improve soil and retain moisture

·         Hardy, though new growth can be affected by severe cold or dry winds

·         While hardy, regular watering will help it establish well

·         A mulch of garden compost or manure provides necessary nutrients
