Hebe ‘Wiri Mist’
Description:
Compact, evergreen New Zealand shrub with small, glossy green leaves and masses of pure white flowers that appear in late spring through summer, often continuing into autumn. It has a neat, rounded shape and fine foliage that gives a soft, misty appearance — hence its name. This variety was bred in Auckland by Jack Hobbs as part of the well-known “Wiri” series, selected for its reliability and garden performance in local conditions.

Position:
Full sun to light shade, prefers a sheltered spot, but tolerates light coastal exposure, avoid cold, heavy frosts

Care tips:
· Trim lightly after flowering to maintain a tidy, bushy shape and encourage new growth
· Water regularly during dry periods until established; drought-tolerant once mature
· Apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth and flowering
· Mulch annually to retain moisture and suppress weeds
· Remove spent flower spikes to prolong flowering and keep the shrub neat
· Watch for aphids or fungal leaf spot in humid conditions — ensure good air circulation
