- Underplanting beneath lightly shaded trees
- Courtyard and tropical-style gardens
- Conservatories or protected outdoor living spaces
Care Tips:
- Keep soil evenly moist but never waterlogged
- Mulch lightly to keep roots cool and conserve moisture, keeping mulch clear of the stem
- Feed with a fertiliser formulated for rhododendrons, azaleas, or camellias in spring and summer
- Remove spent flower trusses after flowering to encourage bushy growth and repeat blooming
- Protect from frost and drying winds; best suited to northern and coastal New Zealand or sheltered frost-free gardens
- Repot container plants every 2–3 years into fresh acidic potting mix
