Description:
Evergreen perennial with bold, sword-shaped leaves in a vibrant emerald green. It forms a symmetrical clump, providing architectural interest in garden beds, borders, or as a specimen plant. Like other phormiums, it produces tall flower spikes in summer with tubular flowers that attract birds, particularly tūī and bellbirds.

Soil:

Well-drained; tolerates a range of soils including sandy or clay soils. Performs best in moderately fertile soil

Uses:

·          Accent or feature plant in garden beds

·          Coastal planting (salt-tolerant)

·          Low-maintenance hedging or screening

·          Wildlife-friendly gardens (nectar for native birds)

·          Contemporary or architectural garden designs

Care Tips:

·          Moderate; drought-tolerant once established. Avoid waterlogged soil

·          Apply a general fertiliser in spring for healthy growth

·          Remove old or damaged leaves at the base to maintain tidy appearance

·          Hardy in most NZ regions; protect from heavy frost in cooler areas
