Coprosma ‘Black Cloud’
Description:
A striking evergreen shrub prized for its rich, dark, almost black-purple foliage that intensifies in cooler weather. The glossy leaves create a dense, compact mound, making it an excellent choice for bold contrast in the garden. New growth has a deep burgundy tone, maturing into a glossy near-black. A hardy native cultivar, it is easy to maintain and highly ornamental.

Well-drained soils; tolerates poor, sandy, or coastal soils; dislikes waterlogging
Uses:

Care Tips:
· Low water needs once established; water well during dry spells in first season.
· Trim lightly to maintain shape if needed. Responds well to clipping.
· Feed with a slow-release fertiliser in spring to encourage lush growth and maintain foliage colour.
· Frost hardy in most NZ areas; may need protection in very cold inland sites.
· Generally pest and disease resistant; occasional scale insects or mealybugs may appear but rarely serious.
