Corokia ‘Geenty’s Ghost’

Description:
Hardy native shrub prized for its striking silver-grey foliage with a fine, wiry texture. The tangled, divaricating branches give it a distinctive ghostly appearance, hence its name. In spring, it produces small, starry yellow flowers, followed by attractive red berries that are loved by birds. Its compact, dense habit makes it ideal for hedging, topiary, or as a feature shrub.

Position:

Full sun to light shade; best colour in full sun

Soil:

Prefers well-drained soil; tolerates dry, poor soils once established

Uses:

·       Excellent for hedging and screening

·       Coastal and exposed sites (very wind and salt tolerant)

·       Great contrast foliage in mixed plantings

·       Habitat for native birds (berries are attractive to them)

Care tips:

·       Trim lightly to maintain shape or hedge form

·       Water regularly while establishing, then drought-tolerant

·       Mulch to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds

·       Tolerates frost, wind, and coastal conditions

·       Feed with a general-purpose slow-release fertiliser in spring for best growth
