Description:
Clump-forming perennial native to New Zealand. It features glossy, narrow, sword-like green leaves that form a dense fan. In spring and early summer, it produces airy sprays of small, white, three-petaled flowers held above the foliage on branched stems (panicles), followed by attractive orange seed capsules that add year-round interest. It’s a refined and low-maintenance native that brings structure and movement to gardens.

Soil:
Well-drained soil; tolerates light clay or sandy soils. Prefers fertile, moist soil but will cope with dry periods once established.

· Suitable for erosion control and low-maintenance landscaping
Care tips:
· Water regularly while establishing; drought tolerant once mature
· Apply a slow-release general fertiliser in spring for lush growth
· Remove old or damaged leaves to keep the clump tidy. Cut back spent flower stems after blooming
· Mulch annually to conserve moisture and suppress weeds
· Divide clumps every 3–4 years in autumn or spring to rejuvenate and propagate new plants
· Generally pest-free and hardy in Auckland’s mild climate
