Canna ‘Mango’
Description:
Striking tropical perennial grown for its lush foliage and vibrant flowers. It features large, banana-like green leaves and bold mango-orange blooms that appear from late spring through autumn. The flowers rise on tall stems above the foliage, adding dramatic colour and structure to garden beds or containers. It thrives in Auckland’s warm, humid summers and provides a long-lasting tropical effect.

Position:
Full sun for best flowering, can tolerate partial shade but with reduced blooms. Prefers a warm, sheltered position protected from strong winds

Moist, fertile, well-drained soil, enjoys rich, organic matter, can tolerate damp or boggy areas if drainage is reasonable

Care Tips:
· Water regularly, especially during dry summer periods
· Feed with a balanced fertiliser during the growing season for strong growth and abundant flowers
· Remove spent flowers and old leaves to encourage continuous blooming
· In cooler months, cut back dead foliage to the ground once it yellows
· Mulch well to retain moisture and suppress weeds
· In frost-prone areas, protect rhizomes with mulch over winter
· Divide clumps every 3–4 years in spring to maintain vigour
