Libertia paniculata
Common name: Grass Flag
Libertia paniculata is a much-loved ornamental grass-like perennial in NZ gardens. Native to south-eastern Australia, it has striking upright, sword-like green leaves and airy sprays of white flowers in spring and summer. The flowers are followed by decorative orange seed capsules that add seasonal interest into autumn. A versatile and low-maintenance plant that brings texture and movement to the garden.
Height & Width: 60–100 cm tall × 40–60 cm wide
Position: Full sun to part shade. Prefers a sheltered spot but tolerates wind and extended dry periods.
Soil: Thrives in most free-draining soils. Will cope with drier soils once established.
